Eijsden is the first village in the Netherlands along which the River Maas runs. Quite unlike the other villages in the Heuvelland region, it has white-painted houses with shutters, which makes the village seem a little French. The cobbled roads, stately homes and pretty squares make the village centre a beautiful picture.
